Shaw//Howard

On the way home from work yesterday I decided to break out my camera. The architecture and history in the Shaw and Howard areas is just incredible. The people are so kind. I could see myself living here someday...

Outside of the nonprofit where I work, homeless people gather. As I was walking by them, this young man asked me to take his picture and posed.

The Howard Theatre opened in 1910 at the corner of 7th and T Streets NW, in the area known as "Black Broadway,” and provided a place where color barriers blurred and music unified. The Howard Theatre reemerged in 2012 with a grand reopening gala and benefit concert. I walk by this historical beauty every day on my way to work.

D.C. if you please.

I FINALLY made it to D.C. after a couple of flight delays and a long opening conference. For two months I will be interning with the United Planning Organization, the longest serving community action agency in D.C. Follow my adventures as I traverse around our nation's capital.

This was my last sunrise in Kentucky for awhile. I'll miss it, but I'll be back before too long!

|| Snow Day || Adventures 2-16-15

My hometown was hit with over a foot of snow, a phenomenon here in Kentucky! Classes got out for the first time in years. As my friends and I traipsed about the winter wonderland I made sure to capture some of the priceless moments.

|| Puppy Love || PORTRAIT 2-10-15

A few weeks ago we welcomed a new member into the Jackson family. Mister Roosevelt is a standard poodle about 10 weeks old. A playful little guy, I took the opportunity to give him the presidential photoshoot treatment he deserved.

|| ANNA M. || PORTRAIT 1-24-15

Taking advantage of the first warm day of winter, Anna and I ventured out to do some exploring. Of course, I had to bring along my camera too! Sometimes it is okay to get lost. It’s called an adventure.

Here are some of my favorites from our little adventure.
